Have you always wondered what it would be like to be a fox hunter? 

Have you wanted to know just why we wear stock ties and the rest of the 'get up'?

What do the different horn calls mean?

We'll answer these and so many more questions for you. Join us Saturday at 10AM for hunt education followed by riding as a flight. Sunday, come back at 10AM to ride to hounds, check out fox hunting apparel and enjoy more great information.

We hope you will love the experience and Princess Anne Hunt so much that you'll join us the following weekend, October 15, for our annual Landowners Picnic and/or our New Member Reception October 19, and then our Opening Meet October 28!


Day 1:

Participants will arrive at the kennel property NLT 0930. Clinic will begin promptly at 1000. Horses are encouraged but not required. Hunt Supporters are strongly encouraged to join us!  

PLEASE BRING A CHAIR.  

The first day will consist of 90 minutes of classroom and 90 minutes of riding with 30-45 minutes in between to tack, check saddle fit and placement, and individual Q&A with the huntsman.

Lesson plan as follows:

1. Introduction and Overview
2. History and traditions of foxhunting in America and PAH
3. Rules and etiquette
4. Calls on the hunting horn
5. Basic hunting horsemanship
6. Diet, conditioning, shoeing, saddle fit and placement, and proper bitting
7. Proper turnout for horse and rider - IMPORTANCE OF APPEARANCE
Break
8. All riders will mount up and we will go on a "mock" hunt, discussing things as we go along
9. Tailgate lunch (members to provide customary PAH post hunt tailgate!)

Day 2:

Participants will arrive NLT 0930. Clinic will begin promptly at 1000.  

The second day will again consist of 90 minutes of classroom, a break to tack and mount up, and then a 90 minute hunt, and finally ending with a tailgate and a final Q&A

1. Hounds and hunting
2. Kennel tour
3. Daily Kennel routine
4. Basic training time techniques
5. Hound confirmation
6. Reading and understanding a hounds body language
7. Scenting conditions and quarry chased
Break
8. Review of material
9. Hunt with hounds
10. Tailgate and final Q&A (members to provide customary PAH post hunt tailgate!)
